Ice AwardsCongratulations to Marc Langley, Target and Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism for their Best of Show win at the ICE Awards. “Crayons” was directed by Sparks Productions’ Paul Santana. Target took home three Golds and three Craft Awards as well as Best of Show, altogether earning 21 awards for “Crayons”, involving executions in other platforms related to the campaign, and work for Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism. The ICE Awards celebrates creativity in Atlantic Canada. Best of Show

Michelle Czukar Makes It About Bensimon Byrne and Scotiabank

Scotiabank and Bensimon Byrne wanted to show people how they’re making banking better. In “Downtime” we see people living their lives with easy accessibility to all the banking options available at Scotiabank. Michelle Czukar’s edit makes the most of Untitled Films director Hubert Davis’ look into the day-to-day. Uncovering the nuances and charm in each of the scenes while moving the story forward is one of Michelle’s specialties. It’s this sensitive touch that helps deliver the message that banking is about humanity.

       Parents understand how much time and sacrifice is poured into their kid’s after school activities. When their child finally reaches the spotlight, it makes it all worthwhile. Grip and KFC have tapped into this emotional moment in their latest spot edited by Marc Langley and directed by Sparks Productions’ Ben Liam Jones. Marc deftly creates a highly watchable, visual cut that shares the story of a Dad and his daughter as she learns how to play the piano. In “Theatre“, we see them both change throughout the years … ending with her first big concert, and the pride of a doting father. KFC’s Stephen Scarrow, Senior Marketing Manager, Advertising & Media, says “The KFC Canada team is exceptionally proud of the “Theatre” ad. Rooster did a great job editing the ad to maximize the emotional power of the story, weaving a story of a Father’s pride in his workmanship, and ultimately the pride of his daughter. This brand ad was produced to support KFC’s current “Colonel’s Way” campaign, an appreciation of Colonel Sanders’ values of hard work, pride and love for the work our cooks do in-store. Beautiful shots of mountain scenery accompany the Coors Light truck taking viewers on a lively journey up a snowy mountain. At the peak of the action is a party waiting to happen. This latest creative effort for DDB Canada and Dairy Farmers of Canada takes us to a fancy dinner party where the guests are frozen in time, but their tears are very real. Editor Izzy Ehrlich and OPC director Matt Devine collaborate, slowing down the narrative time while keeping the visual narration flow steady and dynamic. The camera weaves its way down the dinner table, revealing each guest as they cry over spilled milk.
